Taibai Mountain is the highest in the mountain range of Qinling. It is also the highest peak in the eastern Mainland China. It stands 3767 meters high. In June, the snow on the Taibai Mountain is one of the top 8 views in Guangzhong plain.
Things to Do
Taibai Mountain is located in Baoji City’s Meixian County and is spread over 7287 acres of area. 94.3% of this area is covered with thick forests. The national park includes 180 or more attractions and ten scenic districts. The National park of Taibai Mountain was established officially in the year 1991.
In Chinese, the name of the mountain means too white. This word is used for describing the mountain’s color since during the colder climate, thick layer of snow and ice covers the summit throughout the year. The area is endowed with rich forest resources, mountainous physiognomy, animal species and important historical scenes.
Taibai Mountain was given the title of China’s Natural Zoo and the Natural Botanical Garden of Asia. This park has over 1850 types of seed plants as well as more than 1690 types of animals and insects. This includes over 40 types of animals and 230 varieties of birds. Among these are various rare species such as golden monkeys and pandas. Due to its natural advantage, Taibai Mountain is considered to be a natural gene warehouse.
Wonderful Hot Spring and Lively Mountainous Scenery
when visitors travel to Taibai Mountain, they cannot help but marvel the unique scenery of streams and rocks along the winding road. The continuous mountain chains are marvelous while the sound of running water is like music. A major attraction in the Taibai Mountain scenic area is the natural mineral water.
The area is home to an abundant supply of terrestrial heat even in the low area of the park. The hot spring’s temperature can be 72 degrees and it is home to a large amount of microelements and mineral substances that are beneficial for health. It is home to several pools and lakes on the top of the mountain known as Star Pool, Yuhuang Pool, Sanye Hai, Erye Hai and Daye Hai.
Important Historical Sights
Taibai Mountain has an added charm due to its many historical sites. Over the last several centuries, Taibai Mountain received recognition of several emperors from various dynasties. Abundant folklores, poetries and cultural relics were left over the generations.
Several poets from ancient China like Du Fu and Li Bai from Tang Dynasty as well as Northern Song Dynasty’s Su Shi had travelled to this location to write notable poems. The park is also home to ancient architecture including 64 woodcarvings, 110 Buddha iron statues, 10 iron tablets, 5 stone steles, 32 houses, 14 temples and various furnaces and iron bells.
Taibai Mountain is a great place for refreshment and relaxation. Due to the local climate, it is best to travel to Taibai Mountain in July or August. It is recommended to bring appropriate rain gear and a cotton coat. Visitors can also travel in the national park by ropeway to be able to appreciate the beautiful views of the sea of clouds and the glacier relics.
