Brief Introduction

Pacific Ocean Underwater World is situated under the Central Radio and TV Tower in Beijing. It is jointly invested by Singapore and China. Pacific Ocean Underwater World is a modern aquarium with comprehensive purposes. The main purpose is to exhibit the marine creatures, and then popularize the marine science and provide entertainment for tourists. In the Pacific Ocean Underwater World, there is a display tunnel made of arc-shaped acrylic mirror, measuring 80 meters in length. Standing in the tunnel, tourists can appreciate various kinds of beautiful marine creatures and the attractive scenery underwater. Here, tourists can also see fierce sharks and gorgeous damsel-fish, lovely penguins from Peru and two clumsy seals named Doudou and Benben respectively. There are also some entertaining facilities like a cinema, an ocean canteen, a multi-media classroom, an underwater bar and so on. Pacific Ocean Underwater World is granted the title of “Marine Science Popularization Base of Chinese Society for Oceanography” by the Chinese Society for Oceanography.

The total water storage capacity of the aquarium in Pacific Ocean Underwater World is four thousand cubic meters or so. There are hundreds of kinds of marine creatures form the large and fierce sharks to the tiny and colorful damsel-fish. Pacific Ocean Underwater World uses the hi-tech systems to turn fresh water into brine water and keep the marine creatures alive. More than ten aquaculture experts, aquarium engineers and marine biologists work in Pacific Ocean Underwater World, responsible for the technology and management in the aquarium. The technicians in the aquarium labs do water analysis, scientific experiments, fish health examinations everyday. As a result, about 20 thousand fish of over three hundred kinds live here freely and comfortably as if they were living in the ocean.

The Aquarium

The Aquarium in Pacific Ocean Underwater World has a water storage capacity of more than four thousand cubic meters. There are hundreds of kinds of marine creatures living here, from the large and fierce sharks to the tiny colorful damsel-fish. Pacific Ocean Underwater World uses the hi-tech systems to turn fresh water into brine water and keep the marine creatures alive. Under-sea Tunnel—the transparent arc-shaped acrylic tunnel makes you feel like that you are standing under the ocean.
Performance Zone—in the Performance Zone, tourists can enjoy the exciting dance with sharks. The performance is on twice a day.

Seal Pool—two lovely harbor seals will perform wonderful shows for you.

Touch Pool—tourists can touch the cute marine animals in the Touch Pool.

Cinema—movies in the cinema will take the tourists to the magic and fancy under-sea world.

Marine Science Popularization Classroom—Marine Science Popularization lectures are held in Marine Science Popularization Classroom regularly.

Multi-media Classroom—tourists can search the information of the marine creatures in the Multi-media Classroom free of charge.

Diving Entertainment—here tourists can swimming in the water with huge sharks.

Cinema

Movies in the cinema will take the tourists to the magic and fancy under-sea world. After the tour to the ocean canteen, tourists can have a rest here. In the Hall of Penguins, tourists can see a penguin family from Peru. All of the penguins are quite lovely. In the Touch Pool, tourists can touch the marine animals themselves and experience the unique feeling. In the Performance Zone, the performance of two seals called Doudou and Benben is quite amusing. The audience cannot help laughing. In addition, tourists can also swim in the water, together with the sharks. They can also feed the sharks, which is very exciting. In the under-sea tunnel, tourists can appreciate the divers’ dance with the fierce sharks through the acrylic glass. They can also feast their eyes on the beautiful damsel-fish.

Under-sea Tunnel

Under-sea Tunnel is the main part of the Pacific Ocean Underwater World. It is 80 meters long, in the shape of an arc. It is made of the transparent acrylic glass. The electronic transport tape can carry the tourists travelling under the water. The tourists can just stand still, and feel like that they are walking under the water. Groups of rare marine fish are freely swimming around the colorful coral reef. The tourists can have a panoramic view of the beautiful under-sea scenery, including the lovely marine animals and fancy marine plants. In the under-sea tunnel, your dream of wandering in the sea world will come true.

How to Get There?

Tourists can take Bus 323, Bus 374, Yuntong 103 to Bayi Hu Station. It is on the west of Xisanhuan Road.
