Yanqi Lake

Yanqi Lake lies at the foot of the Yan Mountain, in Huairou District, about 60 kilometers north of Central Beijing. Yanqi means"goose rest". The lake got the name because of the migrant gooses flocking to the lake for a rest each spring and autumn.

Yanqi is indeed a man made lake featured by its vast water surface and beautiful natural scenery. To the north of the lake  Great Wall winds on the undulating peaks, to the south one see the broad Huangbei Plain, to its west is the imposing  Hongluo Mountain and to the east the flame like maple trees on the Jingdeng Mountain. These gorgeous mountains that enclose the lake on three directions, the evergreen cypress and pine trees on the lake bank and the tranquil lake water combine to make the Yanqi Lake a wonderful holiday resort in the suburban Beijing. Many top national and leaders, foreign ambassadors come here for leisure. 

Measuring 1.5 million hectares, the lake contains four gardens: Yanqi Garden, Aquatic Garden of Amusement, Scientific Garden and Garden of Wild Lives as well as six zones: camping zone, apartment zone, holiday resort zone, villa zone and fishing zone etc. More than 40 games that are conducted on land, in water and the sky meet all your recreational demands. What you can do here are boating, bungee jumping, rock climbing and suchlike.

Take public bus No. 916 and 936 at Xuanwumen, Qianmen, Congwenmen, Dongshisitiao and Dongzhimen  to the lake directly or take a train at the Xizhimen Railway Station to go to the lake.
