Beijing Modern International Art Festival, formerly known as The Dashanzi international Art Festival, began to be launched in the year 2004 with the original goal of providing a platform for the modern art life in Beijing. It is not only the first modern art festival in China, but also the only one which covers various categories of arts across the world. There are a large number of artists from over 50 countries participating.
There are totally more than 20 famous exhibition venues of the art festival, including the No.1 international art district, 798 art district, Gaobeidian Art District, Today Art Museum, the Lama Temple and Chaoyang Culture Center. The main exhibition venue of the art festival is the largest art district with the most complete functions in China at present, containing a multitude of influential art agencies from home and abroad, such as the modern gallery of Shi Liren, Hanyaxuan which is the work studio of Zhang Songren and Guanxinag Art center which is the work studio of Xu Zhengfu. Besides, the various activities contain visual arts, creation on spot, videos, dances and music.
