Beijing Student Film Festival, which is firstly held in the year 1993, is held from April 20th to May 4th in Beijing every year. It is the first film festival held in China every year, in the period of the comfortable spring. Beijing Student Film Festival is ranked as one of the top four film festivals in China, together with Shanghai International Film Festival, Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival and Changchun Film Festival. It is produced, watched and judged by a large number of undergraduates coming from various universities of all over the whole country, which is full of passion and enthusiasm. Besides, Beijing Student Film Festival is also ranked as the grand meeting of the cineastes and film performers in China.

Beijing Student Film Festival is highly valued and widely recognized by the authorities in the film industry. During Beijing Student Film Festival, a number of academic activities are also held, such as the special lecture and seminar, discussing the hottest topics about the latest films and televisions. Beijing Student Film Festival enjoys the largest number of participants among all the film festivals in China. There are a number of awards during the festival, mainly consisting of the best feature film, the best director, the best actor, the best actress and many other awards, on the basis of undergraduates’ votes. The main venues are in Beijing Normal University, Tsinghua University and Peking University. In addition, the participating films will be played in more than 20 famous universities in Beijing.

Beijing Student Film Festival plays an improving role in promoting Chinese film industry and college culture, increasingly becoming an influential folk film activity and enjoying an increasing number of popularity these years.
