The Changdian Temple Fair is often a favorite outing for Beijing residents during the Lunar New Year. The temple fair in Changdian dates back to the reign of Emperor Jiajing of Ming Dynasty.
The temple fair is a huge prosperous market for paintings and calligraphic works, antiques, articles for daily use, toys, food products, fruit and vegetables. In addition, one can enjoy shows like acrobatics, lion dance, magic, and operas and attend the Old Photo of Beijing City exhibition, Exhibition of Traditional Folk Arts etc. For visitors from both home and abroad, this fair is both a commercial and cultural experience.
