Xian gshan Park, also known as the Forest Park, is located on the eastern side of the Western Hills, approximately 10 kilometers to the west of Beijing . Due to its high elevation and dense cover of trees, spring arrives late in the area and summer days are always pleasantly cool. Xiangshan Park is most famous for the red tree leaves that are visible from afar on the mountains in autumn, which is also the ideal season to tour Beijing. The cable car is a great alternative to clime this beautiful mountain. With so much to see (for instance, on the top one can clearly view the Summer Palace and the Yuquanshan, or the Mountain of Jade Spring), Xiangshan Park is indeed a wonderful day out throughout the year. In the middle of Xiangshan one may take a rest and have a cup of the fragrant tea in the Yuhua Mountain Villa.
Apart from Xiangshan, in the vast suburb of Beijing, many other places are also good for viewing the autumn red leaved: Baiwang Mountain, Yangtai Mountain, Hongluo Temple Miaofeng Mountain, Bailong Lake Song Mountain, and Shidu etc. In the recent days, Badachu of the Xishan Mountain has become a popular place for red leaves lovers.
