Redeye (Fish), Binzhou

Redeye (Fish) has a cylinder shape, silver color, broad and flat head, and two dorsal fins. It is about 50 centimeters long. It usually lives in groups according to age. Most Redeye Fish we eat are two or three years old. In April each year they will lay eggs in estuaries and make a short tour. It is not until December that they will move to deep oceans to spend winter time, and migrate to estuaries next spring when they will grow larger. Redeye is rich in protein. Fresh and delicious, it is a fantastic cate for big banquet. One of its breed called Kailing Suo is the most famous fish product every spring. Since the head of a cooked Redeye tastes terrific, there is a doggerel quite popular among local people—It is better to throw away carriages and cows than give up Redeye heads. Redeye can be fished all over the year except the banning period.
