Yali Pear has a beautiful shape of egg and a golden color. Since the lower part of its peduncle looks like the head of a duck, it is therefore called Yali Pear. Ya and li here in Chinese refer to “duck” and “pear” respectively. This kind of pears features thin skin, crisp flesh, lasting fragrance, and unique taste of sweet and sour. Besides, it is crowned as “natural amrita” because of the rich nutrition it contains. For example, sugar, Vitamin C, and mineral elements of calcium, phosphor, and iron. Therefore Yali Pear is good for the treatment of fever, cough, asthma, and constipation. The most famous book on medicine Ben Cao Gang Mu (written by Li Shizhen, a very successful doctor on herbs in ancient times) expressed the function of Yali Pear like this: Fresh Yali Pear is very helpful for eliminating the overheat in your internal organs; cooked Yali has tonic effect on your viscera. Yali can be processed into various kinds of food, such as Preserved Pear, Pear Cake, and Pear Beverage.
