Changchun Longjia International Airport began to be put into use on August, 2005. It’s located in northeastern Changchun, about 20 kilometers from downtown Changchun and 60 kilometers from Jilin City. Currently, there are more than 50 domestic and international air routes. The domestic flights operate from Changchun to a number of major cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Kunming, Xiamen, Xi’an and Guilin. The international flights operate from Changchun to Hong Kong, Seoul of Korea, Sendai and Tokyo of Japan, Novosibirsk, Vladivostok and South Korea. There are shuttle buses between the downtown city and the airport. Also, a taxi is available with the fare of about 100 yuan.
Changchun is located on the main artery of Beijing-Harbin railway line, which is the intersection of four trunk railways including Changchun-Dalian, Changchun-Harbin, Changun-Baicheng and Changchun-Tumen railway lines. Changchun Railway Station, originally built in 1913 and rebuilt in 1992, is Changchun’s largest railway station and the third largest railway station in Northeast China. There are express trains or non-stop trains from Changchun Railway Station to a number of major cities, including Beijing, Guangzhou, Xi’an and Shanghai.
The highway construction of Changchun develops rapidly these years. At present, there are highways from Changchun to Siping, Jilin and Yingchengzi. Changchun-Siping highway is the national highway main line, which is an important constituent part of Beijing-Harbin highway, with the total length of 133 kilometers. Changchun-Siping highway also connects with Liaoning highway, which can reach Shenyang, Dalian and Beijing. Changchun has 5 coach stations where there are long-distance buses to all the cities of Jilin Province and a number of cities in other provinces.
Changchun City features convenient city transport. Until 2007, there are over 340 bus lines in the city, including state-owned bus lines, public minibus lines, public minibus special lines and intersecting lines of buses. Besides, No.54 tramcar line is retained, which is one of the few tramcar lines in China.
The taxi industry of Changchun is highly developed, and the taxi drivers of Changchun are very hospitable. The taxies are equipped with taximeters. The boarding fee of the taxi is 5 yuan for the first 3 kilometers, and an extra 2 yuan is charged for each extra kilometer. Also, the fuel surcharge fee of 1 yuan will be added. For renting a car in Changchun, a Chinese driving license is badly needed. Thus, it’s necessary for foreign visitors to hire a Chinese driver if they’d like to rent a car in Changchun. Besides, passport and a certain number of deposits which are about 10 thousand yuan per day are required.
Changchun is one of the few cities in China that has streetcars. Changchun’s new-type No.54 streetcar features good condition and comfortable travel environment. The No.54 streetcar departs from Hongqi Street and stops at Heping Street, via Changchun Movie Production Field, Changchun Film City, Changchun Automobile Museum and some other famous scenic spots. At present, the No.54 streetcar has become a significant vehicle full of reminiscence and it’s also the highlight of tourist communications.
