Liuqing Bamboo Carvings, Changzhou

Liuqing (a special technique) Bamboo Carvings is a traditional art to carve on an extremely thin layer of green skin on the surface of bamboo. Bamboo carving artists skillfully display the art of completely left, slightly left, none left, more left and less left, which cause the works to show levels, lights and shades, depth of color and have a relatively strong third dimension. On the other hand, the skin of bamboo is yellow while the bamboo muscle is red. The difference in color between the skin and the muscle will increase with ages.
