Chaozhou Embroider, Chaozhou

Chaozhou embroidery is one of the school of Guangdong embroidery, which is one of the four famous embroidery of our country. It is famous for its symmetrical composition, strong color and decorative use. It enjoys a history of more than one thousand years, tacking gold embroidery, mixed embroidery of gold and wool, thread embroidery and so on; and over 100 needle techniques as padding, embroidery, conjoining, and composing etc. The raised embroidery makes works look like relief sculpture, which enjoys its distinctive style. Chaozhou embroidery has wide subject matters, main designs of which are figure, dragon and phoenix, animals, flowers and wares, and main products are hanging scrolls, screens, bed-curtains, theatrical costume, flags and head veils etc.
