Day by Day Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Beijing Arrival (Flight not Included)

Destinations & activities: Hotel - Airport Transfer

Welcome to China! As you arrive in Beijing, you will feel warm welcome by your Beijing tour guide and driver. You will be escorted to hotel for check-in. Free time afterwards.

Day 2


Hutong Visit
Hutong visit by a rickshaw

Destinations & activities: Tian'anmen Square, Forbidden City, Hutong visit, an old pearl store

Good day for early risers: morning firstly go people-watching on the biggest public square that is Tian'anmen Square. Enter the Forbidden City, following history's footsteps. Also known as Gugong Museum or Royal Palace Museum, here you will visit Hall of Mental Cultivation, Hall of Supreme Harmony, Palace of Heavenly Purity and Royal Garden. Pay a short visit to a time-honored pearl store before lunch at Courtyard 7 Restaurant.

Sitting in comfort, a rickshaw will weave our way in the Hutong passing Houhai area. Here, you will make a stop at a local house, a greeting and chitchat come in order.


- Smart Tips:

  • Many tour groups enter the Forbidden City from the South Gate, with China Travel, you will do in from the North Gate to avoid the crowds.
  • Courtyard 7 Restaurant is located inside Hutong, a typical Siheyuan restaurant serving authentic Beijing food.
  • To kill the night, try Houhai Bar Street with bars and cafes of all sizes and styles.

    Day 3


    Temple of Heaven
    Temple of Heaven

    Destinations & activities: Temple of Heaven, Mutianyu Section of the Great Wall, Kungfu Show (at 7:30pm), a cloisonné factory

    Last night's good sleep gets a full charge for your tour to the Great Wall at Mutianyu Section. Among all the sections, Mutianyu is noted for better views and less crowds. You will enjoy a one-way cable car life at this section. On the way back, take an exciting sild-way ride downhill. Have lunch in a farmhouse restaurant before get back to downtown Beijing.

    Stop by a cloisonné factory before your time is dedicated to the Temple of Heaven, where Chinese emperors used to offer God their best fruits and prayers. Have some free time before the Kungfu Show at Red Theatre.

  • No.3 restaurant of TripAdvisor's recommendation, Haidilao Hot Pot has its way to spice up your Beijing trip. Within 30min by a cab from the Temple of Heaven. ( Note: Transfer and meal are on your own exspense.)

    Day 4

    Beijing to Chongqing (By Flight No.TBA)

    Summer Palace
    Summer Palace is a good choice for your free time in Beijing.

    Destinations & activities: Free time in Beijing, Hotel - Train Station Transfer

    Today you will have Beijing to your own. Here's what we suggest:

  • Summer Palace is meant for a leisure day, boat trip on Kunming Lake inside it is definitely a bonus.
  • Old Summer Palace, also known as Yuanmingyuan, not far away from the Summer Palace, more for a quiet walk in the seemingly-forgotten ruins.
  • If you are traveling with kids, Beijing Zoo is ideal to get the kids entertained.

    Later today, your Beijing tour guide will take you to the airport for the ongoing flight to Chongqing. Your Choingqing tour guide will escort you to board on the Yangtze River Cruise. Enjoy your night!

    Day 5

    Yangtze River Cruise

    Fengdu Chost City
    Fengdu Chost City is for brave people.

    Destinations & activities: Welcome banquet, dance party, shore excursion to Shibaozhai; Fengdu Ghost City (Optional upon request)

    Waking up in the wave sound of the Yangtze River, you will embrace the morning of nature. Today you will take a short visit to Shibaozhai. Shibaozhai, literally meaning Stone Treasure Fortress, and its riverside location is what allows the historic hill site much of its beauty. The sheer vertical cliffs below it stand more than 56 meters tall, thus creating much curiosity over the centuries. The red pavilion found there was first built in 1750 during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) and has since been restored. Inside, visitors can see many interesting artifacts since each of the 12 floors is dedicated to a famous general from the Three Kingdoms Period (220-265), a local scholar, or a known Chinese poet.

    Fengdu Ghost City is not included in our itinerary, but it's available to book after you get on the cruise. Cost will be your own exspense.

    Day 6

    Yangtze River Cruise

    Getting deep inside the gorges

    Destinations & activities: Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge, Shennong Stream, crew performance

    On your spectacular Yangtze River cruise today, the first gorge of the day will be Qutang Gorge and then later pass through Wu Gorge. After lunch, you will have the chance to go on land to visit Shennong Stream, a tributary of the Yangtze River. It is a dramatic piece of natural beauty with water rushing past karst caves, vertical cliffs, numerous waterfalls, three-colored springs, an ancient plank path, and much more. As well, there is an option to visit the White Emperor City, also known as Baidi city (price not included).

    The crew will later put on a performance for your entertainment, and the vessel will sail through the 5-step ship locks, bringing you back to Yangtze.

    White Emperor City is an option upon your request. Please inform the crew if you'd visit it. Cost will be on your own.

    Day 7

    Yichang to Shanghai (By Flight NO.TBA)

    Make Shanghai fun at your own pace!

    Destinations & activities: Three Gorges Dam Site, Pier - Airport Transfer, Airport - Hotel Transfer

    Your cruise along the world famous Yangtze River will conclude today. In the morning, you will embark on one final shore excursion to visit the Three Gorges Dam Site. This is China and the world’s largest water conservancy project, a work in progress from 1994 until its final completion in 2009. The dam is an impressive 2,335 meters long and 185 meters high. Visitors are allowed the chance to access the top and appreciate the panoramic views.

    The vessel will then dock in Yichang for disembarkation at 1 p.m.

  • Free time ideas: People Square caters to bascially all you need: dinning, touring, entertainment and shopping.
  • Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Art Museum and Museum of Contemporary Art Shangahi are all in People Square, closed on Mondays. An exterior visit is also nice.

    Shanghai History Museum

    Destinations & activities: Oriental Pearl TV Tower (with Shanghai History Museum inside), Yuyuan Garden, The Bund, Nanjing Road, a silk factory

    Oriental Pearl TV Tower is our first stop. Inside the tower, Shanghai History Museum offers an informative visit with its waxwork display.Have lunch in a graceful French-style restaurant.

    Then will visit Yuyuan Garden, a classical private garden in the style of Southern China. It is located right in the hustle and bustle of the Temple of City God. Stop at Jiangnan Silk Factory to learn how silk is made. Take a walk along the Bund. Nanjing Road with shops ranging from street-style chic to high-end brands is our last stop for today.

    Day 9

    Shanghai Departure (Flight not Included)
