Welcome to China! As you arrive in Beijing, you will feel warm welcome by your Beijing tour guide and driver. You will be escorted to hotel for check-in. Free time afterwards.

Day 2

Beijing

Destinations & activities: The Tian'anmen Square, Forbidden City, Lama Temple and a pearl store

Without a doubt, the Tian'anmen Square is the first gateway to approach to Beijingers' life. This morning, you can do some people-watching at the square before we get into the Forbidden City. The Palace of Heavenly Purity, Hall of Supreme Harmony, Hall of Mental Cultivation and Royal Garden will be included.

In the afternoon, you will visit a finest detailed and functioning temple: Lama Temple. Afterwards, you will have some solo adventure in the Hutongs around the Lama Temple.

    Mutianyu Section

    Day 3

    Beijing

    Destinations & activities: The Temple of Heaven, Great Wall at Mutianyu Section and a cloisonné factory

    Enjoy your fresh coffee in the sunshine of Beijing. Later, you will visit the Temple of Heaven. Here, you will approach the beautiful Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests via the Danbi Bridge.

    Slightly farther than other sections of the Great Wall, Mutianyu Section is significantly less crowded. One can even see the desert of Mongolia in the distance during a clear day.

    After lunch, pay a brief visit at a cloisonné factory to see how the clay turns into a bowl.

    Driving back downtown Beijing takes about 2 hours, relax en route. Have some free time in the city.

     

    - Smart Tips:

  • You will take a round-trip cable ride at the Great Wall, of course, you can change to hiking or cable ride downhill.
  • A foot massage or a body massage is needed if you want to relax after all the walking today. Ask your Beijing tour guide for direction.
  • You can get a nice insight of China's postmodern art at 798 Art Zone, where you can also find TimeoutBeijing's favorite art center Ullens Centre for Contemporary Art (UCCA).

    Hutong Visit

    Day 4

    Beijing

    Destinations & activities: Hutong visit (learn to paint Peking Opera Mask), Confucian Temple and free time in Beijing

    It is claimed that without a Hutong visit can nobody get to know the real spirit of Beijing. Today you will take a rickshaw ride into the Hutongs. Visit a local family and learn to paint Peking Opera Mask.

    After lunch, you will get to the Confucian Temple and learn some Chinese culture. Free time to explore around.

     

    - Smart Tips:

  • Near the Confucian Temple, you can also visit Guozijian, aka the Imperial Colleg. Guozijian Hutong itself is an interesting Hutong to visit, as well as Wudaoying Hutong, which is replete with artist cafes and old Siheyuan courtyard houses.
  • Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch

    Day 5

    Beijing Departure (Flight not Included)

    Destinations & activities: Free time in Beijing, hotel - airport transfer

    Your Beijing tour ends today.

    Your Beijing tour guide will take you to the airport. If you would like extension tour to other parts of China or even the neighboring counrties, please let us know.
