    Day 2

    Beijing

    Destinations & activities: Morning free walk on the Tian'anmen Square, Forbidden City, Lama Temple and a pearl store

    In the morning, you will enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Later, saunter on the Tian'anmen Square. The Forbidden City, aka Royal Palace Museum or Gugong Museum, is an extraordinary site which keeps the architectural beauty, history, culture, religion and politics back in the day much alive in present time.

    Try some Beijing noodle before a stop at a pearl store.

    The still functioning Lamaist temple, Lama Temple, contains three major sites for your visit: the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Hall of Harmony and the Hall of Eternal Blessing. You will be free to explore the neighborhood after the tour.

     

    - Smart Tips:

  • Heading east about 500m from the Lama Temple, you will get to Guozijian Hutong, where you can visit Guozijian, aka the Imperial College and Confucian Temple nearby. Guozijian Hutong itself is an interesting Hutong to visit, as well as Wudaoying Hutong, which is replete with artist cafes and old Siheyuan courtyard houses.
  • Kung Fu Show at Red Theatre creates a cinematic visual experience for you.
  • You can find Hua's Restaurant, a restaurant serving delicate Beijing cuisine in a nice atmosphere.

    Day 3

    Beijing

    Destinations & activities: The Great Wall at Mutianyu Section, free time in Beijing and a cloisonné factory

    You will have some free time after breakfast. Do some solo adventure nearby before we head out to the Great Wall.

    Snaking out on the mountain ridge, the Great Wall is China's enduring pride. Today you will enjoy a round-trip cable car ride at Mutianyu Section. Have lunch and visit a cloisonné factory.

    Get back downtown after the tour and enjoy some free time.

     

    - Smart Tips:

  • For a free morning, go for a flag raising ceremony on the Tian'anmen Square, or be part of the morning people practing Tai Chi or sword dancing in Beihai Park.
  • A foot massage or a body massage is needed if you want to relax after all the walking today. Ask your Beijing tour guide for direction.
  • You can get a nice insight of China's postmodern art at 798 Art Zone, where you can also find TimeoutBeijing's favorite art center Ullens Centre for Contemporary Art (UCCA).

    Beijing would be fun for your solo adventure. We have listed out things you might find interesting.

  • Take a boat trip on Kunming Lake in Summer Palace, which would be a good choice for a breezy day.
