Day by Day Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Shanghai Arrival (Flight not Included)

Destinations & activities: Airport - hotel transfer

Upon your arrival at Shanghai airport, you will meet up your Shanghai tour guide, who will introduce this charmning city on the way to hotel. Check in upon arrival and take some time for adjusting yourself from jet-lag.

    Day 2


    Escape into the Wild World

    Destinations & activities: Oriental Pearl TV Tower, The Bund, Yuyuan Garden, Former French Concession, Tianzifang and a silk factory

    Overlooking the Huangpu River and the Bund, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower is absolutely Shanghai's pride and icon. Today you will be on the top of it, taking in a panoramic. Visit Shanghai History Museum, which is located inside the tower, with a great collection of wax work detailing the history of Shanghai. Take a walk along the Bund and go to have lunch at a local restaurant.

    After a stop at a local silk factory, visit Yuyuan Garden. Later,your Shanghai tour guide will take you on a romantic stroll at the Former French Concession and get to Tianzifang.

  • Enjoy the nightscape by the Bund at the jazz bar of the Peace Hotel.
  • After a walk at the Former French Concession, you can go to dinner at the famous dim sum restaurant Din Tai Fung Restaurant. Find its info on our tag or ask your Shanghai tour guide for direction.

    Day 3

    Shanghai to Kunming (Flight MU5806 1425 - 1750)

    Destinations & activities: Free time in Shanghai and transfer to the airport

    Have a free morning to explore Shanghai. Later, you will fly to Kunming. Check in upon arrival.

  • To get around in Shanghai at a low price, you can choose tourist bus. Find the info on our tag.
  • If you are having a Sunday, why not go to worship at Shanghai Community Church?

    Day 4

    Kunming to Dali (Flight No.8L9903 2100 - 2140)

    Destinations & activities: Stone Forest, Green Lake Park and Yuantong Temple, land transfer

    In the morning, we will drive to Stone Forest. Countless limestones spring up from the earth and form the land of over 4,000 Km2 a forst of stone. Have lunch and be back to the city.

    After a relaxing walk in the Green Lake Park, we will get to one of the oldest Buddhism temples in Yunnan: Yuantong Temple.

    The flight to Dali is late at night (2100 - 2140). Your Kunming tour guide will escort you to the airport.

    Check in upon arrival.

    Day 5


    Erhai Lake

    Destinations & activities: Boat trip in Erhai Lake, Xizhou Bai Village and Dali Ancient Town

    The vast Erhai Lake is home to several minority groups in Dali. Today you will take a pleasant boat trip on the lake. Later, drive to Xizhou Bai Village, where Bai people live. Have lunch and then we will be back to Dali.


    Afternoon, you will take a free walk in Dali Ancient Town and experience the exotic lifestyle and culture.



    - Smart Tips:

  • Cycling around Erhai Lake is an adventureous challenge that can amp up your China holiday. Ortherwise, get around the nearby countryside on wheels. Ask your Dali tour guide for advice and help if you're interested. (* Note: We wouldn't recommend elderly people go for this trip.)
  • Meals: Breakfast and Chinese Lunch at Kaiyi's Kitchen


    Day 6

    Dali to Lijiang

    Lijiang Town

    Destinations & activities: Land transfer, Lijiang Ancient Town, Lion Hill, Wood Mansion and Wangu Tower

    This morning, you will enjoy a scenic drive to Lijiang.

    Arrive in the afternoon. Check in upon arrival.

    A free walk in Lijiang Ancient Town is neccessary for you to learn about its Badong and Naxi cultures that are different from what you've seen in Dali. Later, visit Wood Mansion and get on the Wangu Tower on the Lion Hill to view the whole lovely town.


    - Smart Tips:

  • The distance from Dali to Lijiang is about 4 hours.
  • Please note: No lunch arrangement for today but we will make a stop in the middle of the road for simple food (your expense). You can take some snacks and water.

    Destinations & activities: Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Shuhe Ancient Town

    After breakfast, we will visit the beautiful Jade Dragon Snow Mountain at its Yak Meadow.

    Drive to Shuhe Ancient Town for a quieter moment.


    - Smart Tips:

  • The distance from Lijiang to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is about 1.5 hours.
  • Please note: Yak Meadow is 3,800 meter from sea level and there might come an altitude change while the cable car goes up the mountain, however, most people won't feel any physical uncomfort. Please let your tour guide know if some phyiscal problems occur.


  • Meals: Breakfast and Chinese Lunch at Misi Restaurant


    Day 8

    Lijiang to Shangri-la

    Destinations & activities: Land transfer, Tiger Leaping Gorge

    Today your driver will drive you to Shangri-la. On the way, you will stop at Tiger Leaping Gorge. The gorge is 18 kilometers long situating along the upriver of the Jinsha River, or the Golden Sand River. Have lunch en route.

    Your driver will take you to Shangri-la, where your Shangri-la tour guide will escort you to hotel. Check in upon arrival.

    Day 9


    Songzanlin Lamasery

    Destinations & activities: Songzanlin Lamasery, Pudacuo National Park

    Like a paradise on earth, Shangri-la is world-known for its intoxicating lanscape. Today you will visit Songzanlin Lamasery, one of the 13 famous monasteries of Tibetan Kham. Have lunch in a local restaurant.

    Pudacuo National Park will take up your whole afternoon and reward an amazing experience. Visit Bitahai Lake before visiting a humble village.


    Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch at Anuokangba Restaurant

    Day 10

    Shangri-la to Beijing (Flight CZ8130 1750 - 2305)

    Destinations & activities: Tibetan family visit, Shangri-la Ancient Town and transfer to the airport

    Today you will visit a local Tibetan family and Shangri-la Ancient Town. Later today you will fly to Beijing. Check in upon arrival.

    Day 11


    Escape into the Wild World

    Destinations & activities: Tian'anmen Square, Forbidden City, Former Residence of Soong Chin Ling, Hutong rickshaw ride and family visit

    A fresh coffee kicks a good start for your morning.

    Pack up your gear and today you will firstly visit Tian'anmen Square and then the Forbidden City.

    Have lunch in a traditional noolde house and we will get to the Former Residence of Soong Chin Ling, more widely known as the birthplace of China's last emperor Puyi. Get on a rickshaw and the rider will take you into Beijing's beating heart: Hutong. Following up is some quality time with a local family in the Hutong.

    Today you will also have a chance to learn how to spot fake pearls at a time-honored pearl store.


    - Smart Tips:

  • The Corner Tower of the Forbidden City is always a favorite spot for photographers. Spend some time there if the time allows.
  • Today's tour ends up at the Hutong area near Houhai, where you can find a decent place to kick back and enjoy a brisk Beijing night.
  • It takes some nerve to dance in public. But moves don't matter if you got the passion - at least it's so for Chinese dance devotees. Go check out China's national hobby: Square Dance in Beijing!
  • Meals: Breakfast and Chinese Lunch at Bai Shi Da Restaurant


    Day 12


    Escape into the Wild World

    Destinations & activities: Temple of Heaven, Mutianyu Section of the Great Wall, a cloisonné factory and Kungfu Show at night

    In morning, we will first visit the holy site of Temple of Heaven, where Chinese emperors used to worship God with their sacrifices. Later, drive up to the Great Wall at Mutianyu Section, where you will hike up the mountain ridge. Visit a local cloisonné store before lunch.

    In the afternoon, we will be back to the city. Free night for you to thrill.


    - Smart Tips:

  • Don't leave Beijing without a bite of the legendary Peking Duck. Dine like a royalcourt member at Hua's Restaurant.
  • Tired of today's walking and photo-taking? Let's rub it away with a traditional Chinese massage. Your Beijing tour guide sure knows some decent place.
  • If you want to carry on with excitment, a Kungfu Show will be the best bet. Ask your guide for ticket and direction or you can check on our "Solo Adventure!" tag.
  • Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch at Xinshuangquan Restaurant


    Day 13

    Destinations & activities: The Summer Palace, Yonghe Lama Temple, Bird's Nest and Water Cube and free time in Beijing

    In the morning, you will take a relaxing tour at the Summer Palace. Enjoy the boat ride on Kunming Lake. Later, visit the less-visted yet much interesting Yonghe Lama Temple. Have lunch in a traditional Sichuan Restaurant.

    Bird's Nest and Water Cube were made known in the world for the grand Olympics 2008. This afternoon you will take an exterior visit at this great site. Free time to explore the city afterwards.

  • You can visit the Drum Tower for a drumming show at sunset. Your Beijing tour guide will point the direction.
  • Book a night show? Golden Mask Dynasty will surely blow your mind!

    Beijing Departure (Flight not Included)
