12-Day Beijing to Urumqi Silk Road Adventure by Shangri-la Express

Upon arrival in Beijing, your Beijing tour guide will escort you to hotel. The rest of the day is free on your own.

Destinations & activities: Forbidden City, Hutong Visit, Transfer to Shangri-la Express

Your first morning in Beijing will start with the Forbidden City, aka Royal Palace Museum, Gugong Museum or Purple Forbidden City. At noon, you will enjoy a Peking Duck banquet.

In the afternoon, you will take a Hutong visit and chitchat with a local family. At night, you will board on Shangri-la Express heading to Luoyang, enjoy your night!

Destinations & activities: Shaolin Temple, Transfer to Xi'an

Around 9:00am, you will arrive in Luoyang. Luoyang is famous for Shaolin Kungfu, and today you will visit where the legend began: Shaolin Temple. At noon, have vegetarian lunch near the temple.

After dinner, you will be on the way to Xi'an at 10:30pm.

Destinations & activities: Anciet City Wall, Fountain Square behind the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show

You will arrive in Xi'an in the early morning. After some simple breakfast, you will visit the Ancient City Wall. Later, take a leisure walk on Fountain Square, where you can get a full view of the famous Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Xi'an's landmark. Have lunch and check in hotel.

The rest of your day will be free. At night, you will attend a Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show while dinner, hope you enjoy the food and the show!

Destinations & activities: Terracotta Warriors and Horses, Huaqing Hot Springs

The massive wonder of Terracotta Warriors and Horses is a highlight to your China tour. Today you will spend a couple of hours at this site. Have lunch afterwards.

In the afternoon, you will visit Huaqing Hot Springs, a part of the royal palace for Tang emperor Tang Xuanzong and his concubine Yang Guifei. At night, the express will take you to Tianshui.

Destinations & activities: Mount Maiji Grottoes

Among the most famous grottoes, Mount Maiji Grottoes offers stunning view on the Silk Road. Today, you will arrive in Tianshui and take a visit at this awesome site.

At night, you will head to next destination: Jiayu Guan.

Destinations & activities: Jiayu Guan Watch Tower, Xuanbi Ancient Great Wall

Known as the first pass under heaven, Jiayu Guan was firstly built at the end of the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644). Today, after your arrival and check-in, you will take a visit to the Watch Tower, and the Anicent Great Wall.

At night, a roasted gigot dinner will be served for you.

Destinations & activities: Singing Sand Mountain, Crescent Spring, Dunhuang Night Market

As an important stop on the Silk Road, Dunhuang has been a mystery to outsiders. Today, you will arrive in Dunhuang after 3 hours on the express.

In the afternoon, you will visit Dunhuang's highlights: Singing Sand Mountain, Crescent Srping and feel the exotic atmosphere. At night, you will visit the famous Dunhuang Night Market

Destinations & activities: Mogao Grottoes

A hidden treasure in the desert, Mogao Grottoes is always a big draw for Silk Road adventurers. Today you will spend some time here before the night ride to Turpan on Shangri-la Express.

Destinations & activities: Jiaohe Ancient City, The Karez Wells, Flaming Mountain

Arrive in Turpan at 9:00am, you will visit Turpan's highlights: Jiaohe Ancient City and Karez Wells

In the afternoon, you will visit the Flaming Mountain, the hottest place in China, overshadow the cradle of the Turpan ancient civilization and oasis agriculture. Later, a long distance coach will take you to Urumqi. Check in hotel after arrival.

Destinations & activities: Heavenly Lake, Xinjiang Museum, International Bazaar

This morning, you will take a boat trip on Heavenly Lake. Later, learn something about beautiful Xinjiang at Xinjiang Museum.

In the afternoon, you will get to the International Bazaar, symbolizes the boom of Sinkiang's commerce and tourism. It is the landscape architecture as well as landmark architecture. At night, you will attend a party where you can sample Xinjiang's widely known roast lamb.
