Tourist Bus to Xijiag Miao Village to be Put into Operation This Year

Xijiang Miao Village, located at Xijiang Town, Southeast Guizhou , is a village of historical and cultural significance. There are around 1000 wood houses of Miao minority; therefore the village is nicknamed as "One Thousand Household Miao Village" (Qianhu Miao Village) and the "cultural center" of Miao ethnic group.

 

Although there is a highway between Xijiang Village and Kaili City (capital of Southeast Guizhou), no fixed and convenient bus can be found. According to the relevant departments, tourist bus linking these two places will be put into operation this year.

 

With its route of 40 kilometers and runtime of 75 minutes, the tourist bus traveling from Kaili to Xijiang Miao Village will link the longest wind-rain bridge (at the stop of Kali National Stadium) with Xijiang Village. The coming to operated tourist bus will not only facilitate the life of local people, but also tourists' travel to Xijiang Miao Village to experience the real Miao culture and customs.

 

Xijiang is called "Jijiang" in Miao language, which refers to the residence of Miao people with the family name of "Xi". And Xijiang Village is named the “Capital of Miao minority”. With more than one thousand Miao households built on a mountain slope, the unique Xijiang Miao Village is the biggest Miao village in China and even around the world.

 

The large-scale village is more like a forest made up of maple-made houses (those propped up by wooden supports with ladders leading up) with wood buildings climbing to the mountain top. At nightfall, the maple walls in the village look gorgeous in the setting sun; kitchen smoke curls upward from kitchen chimneys, like the clouds. Sitting in the valley, the village is surrounded by mountains, with Baishui River flowing through. The houses in the village are decorated by masses of green bamboos and maples, making Qianhu Miao Village beautiful especially in autumn. The tourists can enjoy the unique Miao delicacy and instrumental performance of bronze drums Lusheng (a traditional Chinese instrument) in the village. Accommodation in the village is available.
