Lijiang---Shangri-la Railway

A construction kick-off meeting was held on June 10th, 2009 for Lijiang ---Shangri-la Railway. And this railway will be put into operation after 3 years.

 

The construction will start from Lijiang, go by Tiger Leaping Gorge and Xiaozhongdian Village, and then reach Shangri-la. It is the first-class railway which adopts electronic engines and with a speed of 120 kilometers/ hour. Lijiang---Shangri-la Railway belongs to the Dianzang Railway whose construction is still under discussion and will link Dali and Kunming . By the time when the construction has been finished, it will take only one day to get to Shangri-la from Kunmng.

 

Lijiang Ancient Town (a world cultural heritage) and Three Parallel Rivers (a world natural heritage) can be combined together by the time when the railway has been completed. It will be very convenient for the tourists to visit Lijiang then. In addition, more cities and districts can be connected through the extra stretching of Lijiang---Shangri-la Railway. Towards the west, the railway will get to Lhasa after going through Deqin, Bomi, Linzhi and other places; the railway will meet the Dali Railway and Guangda Railway at some city like Dali and Kunming as well.
