Among the complaints is that the extra 30 yuan (or $ 4.4) will not bring any major improvements to the scenic zone.
So far the post has received more than 8,000 clicks since July 20, with over 100 people expressing their opinions.
A netizen says that we Chinese people consider the Yellow River as our mother river, but now it is so difficult to visit it. Another netizen feels quite upset, saying that he voluntarily planted trees by the bank of the river ten years ago, but now he has to pay 60 Yuan (or 8.8 US Dollars) to see them.
Other netizens believe that the high price will only lead to a reduction of visitors, followed by another new price rise. Therefore, they think it will be a vicious circle.
"As the back garden of Zhengzhou city, the Yellow River should be open for free, or offer some favorable price policy for local residents" says a netizen named "Mint Water".
The report says that the price of visiting the scenic zone was increased from 30 Yuan to 60 Yuan last November, and it has been ratified by the relevant price department.
A worker at the Yellow River scenic zone told a reporter that it is not practical to lower the entry price now, and that 60 Yuan is quite cheap compared to other national AAAA tourist spots, adding that they would try to improve service and infrastructure in order to keep visitors happy.
Professor Yuan Qun, who specializes in appraising tourist sites, says that scenic zones in Henan Province should follow the example of West Lake in Hangzhou , which opens for free without losing income.
