According to the recent flight schedules of civil aviation, all the flights between Wuhan and Nanjing have been canceled since March 27th, 2011, due to the low attendance of the flights.

Due to the operation of motor train units, the flights between Wuhan and Nanjing have been compelled to be canceled. There are three CRH trains from Wuhan to Nanjing every day, with the ticket price of only 180 CNY for a second seat, taking only 3 hours. The attendance of CRH trains reaches 90%. However, there are 2 flights between Wuhan and Nanjing every day, with the air fare of 730 CNY (excluding fuel surcharge). The everyday attendance of the flights is no more than 50%. Except festivals and holidays, the flight between Wuhan and Nanjing is in the red. According to two airlines, once Beijing-Shanghai express railway is put into operation, there will be more CRH trains from Wuhan to Nanjing, leading to a sharp drop of the attendance of flight. Thus, it’s advisable to cancel the flights at present.
