Print CommentThe Shenzhou-8 unmanned spacecraft is scheduled to be launched at 5:58 GMT on November 1, 2011, a spokesman for China’s manned space program announced on October 31. The decision was made at the fifth meeting by the headquarters of rendezvous and docking mission of Tiangong-1 and Shenzhou-8 spacecraft.
On October 31, fuel has been added to the Long March-2F rocket which will carry Shenzhou-8 into orbit. The spacecraft is expected to perform China's first space docking with Tiangong-1, or Heavenly Palace-1, a space lab that was launched in September.
The spacecraft will be launched from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China's Gansu Province. Its main return landing field is in the AMu Gulang Grasslands in Middle Inner Mongolia.
