The 17th Jilin International Rime Ice and Snow Festival

On December 27th, 2011, the 17th Jilin International Rime Ice and Snow Festival kicked off in Jilin City which is known as ice-snow Shangri-La, which will last for 91 days. The festival is mainly based on rime, ice and snow, aiming to create an ice- snow carnival and show the relationship between ice-snow and the culture of Chinese New Year.

Rime is a kind of natural landscape appearing on branches of trees by the Songhua River during chilly winter, attracting numerous visitors to appreciate every year. The festival is hosted by Tourist Administration of Jilin Province and Jilin Municipal People's Government. On the opening ceremony of the festival, visitors from home and abroad can participate a grand meeting integrating regionalism, culture and participatory. The festival boasts the grand snowfield subject-live performance in Beidahu scenic area, and the performance lasts for 30 minutes. During the festival, 16 festival activities will feast visitors’ eyes, such as evening entertainment and ice-snow hot spring tourism festival.
