Hulunbuir Is Experiencing The Coldest Period in Recent Ten Years

On January 30, freezing cold air and icy fog air swept several cities of Inner Mongolia. The temperature is down to -40℃, leading to the rare “icy fog” phenomena occured in Hailaer, Chenba Erhu areas. The urban area of Yakeshi City met its lowest temperature at -45℃, causing great troubles to citizens daily life. People have to go out in the icy fog weather with frost on their hats and eyelashes.

From January 19 to 30, the temperature in Hulunbuir is keeping under -35℃. Both forest region and pastoral area experienced the same chilly weather. The low temperature made 2012 Spring Festival the coldest one in the recorded history of Hulunbuir. Such cold weather will continue to at least February 1.
