Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport will open a new international non-stop air route to Frankfurt in Germany on May 19, in 2013. Flight tickets for the air line are open to book now. The whole journey from Chengdu (in Southwest China) to Europe will only last about 9 hours.
There are regular flights on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday weekly departing from Chengdu to Frankfurt. The flights will leave for Frankfurt at 01:30, and arrive at 18:10 local time. The return flights will depart from Frankfurt International Airport at 14:15, and get Chengdu at 06:10 local time.
Chengdu will have 4 non-stop air routes to Europe after the new flights to Frankfurt will open in May. At present, there is an international air line from Chengdu to Amsterdam in Holland. Travelers flying between Chengdu and Frankfurt have to transfer a flight in Beijing, Shanghai, or in Amsterdam. The new air line will cut a 15 to 21 hours journey down to 9 hours.
The advance flight tickets begin to sell now, with the lowest price of 3900 CNY per person without tax. However, the cheapest flights which need to transfer in Beijing or Shanghai is 3710 CNY without tax. The new international flight seems has no advantages at price. But the ticket market will be optimistic in future.
Travel in Southwest China
The new international air route will bring convenience for a lot of travelers who want to travel in Southwest China. Travelers won’t need to transfer flights in Beijing or Shanghai when they want to travel in the southwest of China.
