New Route from Lhasa to Shigatse Currently Closed for Repair

There are two routes to go between Lhasa and Shigatse. The new route (as indicated with a red line in the map below) is currently closed for repair, and there is not yet a set time for when it will reopen.

Tibet Tourism Corporation plans to organize 2,500 Tibetan tourists to visit the upcoming World Expo 2010 to be held in Shanghai, according to Liu Yidong, senior official of the corporation.
