Before the National Day holiday, some of my colleagues asked me to travel with them, but I smiled and refused. Actually, at that time, I said to myself "West Lake, I am coming."
I arrived in Hangzhou at 10 a.m. It was cloudy, but I still felt really excited to see the place that I had dreamed of. After putting my luggage in the hotel that I had reserved, I reached West Lake at about 11 o'clock.
When I first stepped on this land, I felt it had nothing special and was just a little more delicate than Taihu Lake. However, I had thought it was a park, but finally found it was just in the city and beside the road. It was really amazing to see that the busy city got along so well with the picturesque lake.
I had just walked along the lake for a little while, when it began to spot with rain. There is a saying that goes, "It is better to be rainy than sunny". At that time, I felt that I could not agree more. The lake was suddenly drawn with a veil. Nearby, green grass formed a carpet while the willows and bridges were seemed to be in a Chinese ink and wash painting. In the distance, the mountains were visible through the rain while the sky and the waters merged with each other. Not until then did I realized that how fantastic it was.
It rained more and more heavily. When the characters "No Snow on the Broken Bridge" came into my sight, stone-tablet pavilion had already been crowded with people. Beside the pavilion, lotuses were wavering happily in the rain under the Broken Bridge. Although the lotuses had withered, the green leaves looked more lovable with an air of one famous poem "The lotus leaves are indefinitely green and can almost hide all the sun". The rainwater seemed to be reluctant to part from the leaves, assembling to sparkle on them.
The Broken Bridge was probably famous for the love story of the White Snake Lady and Xu Xian . Also because of this, people would stop to take a photo while crossing the bridge. When I was on the bridge with my umbrella, it was raining even more heavily. Standing on the bridge, I felt as if I was taken back to the time when the story happened. At that time, Xu Xian held an umbrella for his beloved wife and helped her to board a boat. How romantic it was!
I Walked down the Broken Bridge, and then reached Bai Causeway. It was connected with the Broken Bridge and both of them were built on the lake. Because of the heavy rain, the water began to run fast and high. The Bai Causeway and the lake were almost at the same level. Looking at the water by my feet, I felt as if I was walking on the lake like an immortal.
I walked forwards and soon got to a scenery spot named "The Autumn Moon over the Calm Lake". Pitifully, it was too crowded for me to appreciate it. I could do nothing but moving on. And when I arrived at Xiling Bridge and turned back, the scenery was extremely incredible: bridge, rain, lotus, willows and mountains created a breath-taking picture. No wonder Su Xiaoxiao and Qiu Jin chose to be buried there.
Not far from Xiling Bridge was Su Causeway. The rain was easing off. And many people came and went, making it too noisy for me to feel the fascination of Su Causeway. And the best time to appreciate the Spring Dawn at Su Causeway was decidedly spring. So I kept on going and went to see the Moon Reflected in Three Pools. It was almost 4:30 p.m. The Moon Reflected in Three Pools was the biggest island in the West Lake, and had long been known as Xiaoyingzhou. I bought a ticket to take a boat. It lived up to its reputation with its unique scenery. It looked even more splendid in the fog formed by the rain. And people around me could not help saying "How great it would be to live here". When the boat was about to be in port, I looked around again. Then a dreamland came into my sight: the lights stared the lake, which looked like the Galaxy.
When I was ashore, I stood there for a long time. I closed my eyes to think of the sceneries and stories of the West Lake, and made an appointment to see her again in winter.
