Back from Spring Festival

Today is the first day after Spring Festival Holidays. I get back to work and feel everything back to normal again.

The Spring Festival is the Chinese New Year, for Chinese It's like Christmas to westerners. Usually most people would go home and get together to celebrate. Because my home is at the northwest part of China too far away from Guilin , so I didn’t go home. My original thought was going to Guangzhou and stay with my uncle, but unfortunately he got business trip to Hong Kong . So I stayed in Guilin.

Instead of staying at my cold apartment, I chose to walk around. Streets are quiet, except some children played fireworks. The atmosphere is different from Urumqi. You can see lots of Chinese knots and other symbols hanging on the roadside, but in Urumqi you can’t see these things, because those Uygurs don’t celebrate this festival. I rang my parents told them I was OK. I got everything here in this city. They said that they are planning a trip to Beijing , Shanghai , Guangzhou and Guilin. I really doubted if they really have time, because last year that accident really heavily attacked their business. Most of my friends at Xinjiang are really suffering a depressing time, the network is still being restricted, only few pages can be open, and international phone calls and phone messages are still forbidden. At the end of last mouth, a friend of mine called me and said he finally could open the taobao page, but the most ridiculous thing is he could complete the payment because the online payment page is forbidden. I don’t know how long will this condition lasts, but I definitely won’t go back within a few years, maybe forever…I couldn’t live without internet and computer, couldn’t live without my interests…

Most restaurants were closed. I went to Wall-mat for some snacks. To my surprise that all seats in the rest area were full of customers eating alone like me. I bought some fruit cakes sat in a table near the corner. I didn’t know the best way to start a talk with a stranger. Maybe this is why I don’t meet the right girl. ;)

The dude stood next to me seemed really hungry, kept eating the small fried chicken. I left the mall after I had some meat balls. What a quiet New Year!
