Nanshan Solitary Tree Viewing Plat

Nanshan Solitary Tree Viewing Plat lies in the southern bank of Yangtze River in Chongqing City. It is a tree that connects the Laojun Cave on the left and Fortress Hill on the right. Divided by the river from the urban center, it is over 500 meters above sea level, covering an area of 120 acres. It consists of viewing plat, attic, pavilion and leisure areas in the opening. The plat has many functions, such as viewing, relaxing, tea-drinking, photography taking, entertaining and so on. Originally it was only a tree viewing plat opened in January 1997. As it reserves a tree called Ficus virens(a very common tree seen mostly in Chongqing, Sichuan and Hubei Province)for so many years, it got the name.


In July 2005, in order to celebrate the 5th Asia Pacific Cities Summit, Chongqing municipal government carried out the overall renovation of the plat: adjusting the present situation, improving services, integrating modern facilities and making a more comfortable environment. Currently, as a new landmark building of Chongqing, the plat becomes the best place for the tourists to watch the night piece.
