Chongqing People’s Auditorium was started building in June 1951. It was finished building in April 1954. It’s a period of group of national buildings. It’s also the symbolized building, representing special characteristics of Chongqing. The whole building is composed of auditorium, east building, south building, and north building. It covers a total area of 66,000 square meters, with the auditorium covering 18,500 square meters. Chongqing People’s Auditorium is 65 meters high. The auditorium is 55 meters high. The internal diameter is 46.33 meters. The circle auditorium is surrounded by five- storey stand, which are protruded out. It can hold over 4,200 people. Chongqing People’s Auditorium adopts the traditional architectural form of axial symmetry. Colonnades match with double wings. Tower is at the end. It’s in perfect proportion. The People’s Auditorium looks like the Temple of Heaven in Beijing enlarged, with big green roof of glazed roof tiles, red colonnades, white balustrades. It is painted with all kinds of pictures. It’s glorious and majestic. Building this imitated version of Temple of Heaven is to pray that the country flourishes and people live in peace.

It is possible to take Bus 103, Bus 104, Bus 105, Bus 111, Bus 112, Bus 122 or Bus 215 to arrive. Minibus 181 or minibus 503 is Ok too.
