Renmin Square

Chongqing Renmin Square was built in June 1997, at the same time when the Chongqing municipality was founded. It occupies a total area of about 30,000 square meters. The square is built with granite and has a music fountain in an evergreen blossom.
At the back of the square is the well-known Chongqing Renmin Auditorium, which is one of the top ten Asian classic buildings in 20th century. The auditorium was proposed by Deng Xiaoping and He Long, and designed by the famous architect Mr. Zhang Jiade. It was started in September 1951, completed in January 1954, with a construction phase lasting two years and four months.
Chongqing Renmin Auditorium has a large stage for accommodating 5,000 people at the same time. It is not only the main attraction of the city, but also an important place for holding the big celebration, grand assembly and performance. It wins the high praise of the visitors from home and abroad. From the morning to evening, a lot of people will gather together to do varied activities.
