Zigong Salt Museum was established in 1959 as the first salt museum in China which is located in downtown of Zigong City. Over more than 40 years since the museum was established, it has made great achievements in collections, researches, exhibitions and protections of Chinese salt history, especially the historical relics of well-salt. The characteristics of basic exhibition and the history of development in well-salt technologies showed us a great deal of cultural relics, practical wisdom, and the multimedia technology by adopting photos. Museum, published by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), had introduced the museum to the world.

The Museum includes two ancient building complexes: one is Xiqin Assembly Hall, the national cultural relic protective unit, which covers 6,303 square meters; the other is Wangye temple, provincial cultural relic protective unit, covering 705 square meters. The building styles are of Ming and Qing dynasties, integrating with cultural elements and religious arts that incarnate in ancient building complexes.
