“translucent Beef”

As a traditional food of Daxian in Sichuan Province, the bright -red colored beef slices are as thin as sheets of paper and taste spicy, hot, delicious and crisp. Nibbling the beef in the mouth, the eaters enjoy an endless aftertaste. Legend has it that more than 80 years ago, a craftsman with the family name Liu made a living by selling salted beef in Daxian but end up with slack business.  Keen on reforms, he finally made slice-shaped beef jerky. At dawn, he set up a stall for selling the beef jerk in the shopping center. In order to solicit the customers, he especially put a large thin beef slice before the stall with an oil lamp behind it. The beef slice shone bright and red with the vague shadow of the lamp, which drew a lot of attention of the passersby. After tasting the spicy, hot, crisp and delicious beef jerk, people called it “translucent beef”.

“yang Fish”

There are many vast underground lakes in the hillside of Ba Mountain which stretches for thousand li . The fish in the underground lakes are called “Yang Fish”by the mountaineers. Staying out of the sun underground, the fish is scaleless with degradation of eyes. Without intrusion of human beings, the fat and large fish multiply randomly. The fish taste delicate, fresh and tasty. The fish swim out of the grass between the stones as the underground water level rises. The fish can be caught at water outlets with bamboo fish hampers or. The outlets are called “Fish Springs” by the locals. It’s not effort-taking to cook the fish. After eviscerated and stewed with salt and ginger, the fish dish is ready. Being unique tasty and unpolluted, the fish is genuinely green food.
