Imitation City of Song Dynasty

The Imitation City of Song Dynasty was built in 1987 when China and Japan cooperated to produce a big historical TV drama "Dunhuang". It is based on a famous painting "Qingming Festival by the Riverside" which describes the life in Song Dynasty and built the imitation of Shazhou Ancient City with an area of 10000 square kilometers. The architectural style of the City is full of the features of the western regions of China. There are gates in the east, west and south. The city is consisted of five streets, namely, Gaochang, Dunhuang, Ganzhou, Xingqing and Bianliang, along which are Buddhist temple, hockshop, warehouse, residence and so on. All of those reconstruct the glory of Dunhuang in the Tang and Song Dynasties.

Therefore, it is regarded as the museum of western architecture art in China and has unique advantages to shoot the ancient military films. Now it has become the biggest base for shooting movies and TV dramas in the western China. So far, more than 20 movies and TV dramas have been shot there. With its rich culture and splendid scenery, it is now one of the main tourist spots in Dunhuang.

Location:

It is located in the south of the road from Dunhuang City to Yangguan, 25km from urban center.

Ticket Price:

50 yuan in the peak season, 40 yuan in the usual time, and 10 yuan in the off season.

Opening Time:

It is open the whole day.

How to get there:

You can go there by taxi, which will cost you about 25yuan.
