Shaxiangwan Tourist Area is featured by its amazing desert landscape and the whispering sand dunes. Besides, there are also the sand lake and the oasis, etc. The sand dunes stretch as far as the eye can see and form a magnificent landscape.Recently scholars proposed scientific principles to explore its cause of formation. However, no substantial progress was achieved.

How to get there:

Visitors are suggested to take a long distance coach leading to Ordos from Baotou, and get off in Wayao Village, and then there is a distance of 5 Km to cover.

Tips:
★Tips: The desert area has a very dry weather, make sure to bring sufficient water, sun shade umbrella and sun cream before you start. Be cautious of the sun stroke. In a typical desert climate environment, there are plenty of wind storms in spring, and it is extremely hot in summer, severely cold in winter. However, in autumn (i.e. from the middle of August to the end of September, about 40 days) the climate is mild and it is the best season to visit the desert.
