China statutory measurement units

The most commonly used China statutory measurement units include length unit, area unit, volume unit, mass unit, force unit, speed unit and temperature unit, etc.

1. The Length Unit

The length unit includes meter (m), centimeter (cm), millimeter (mm), kilometer (km), micrometer (μm), nanometer (nm) and nautical mile (n mile). The relations among them are as follows:

1 m = 100 cm = 1000 mm = 10^-3 km = 10⁶μm = 10⁹ nm

1 n mile = 1852 m = 1.852 km

2. The Area Unit

The area unit includes square meter (m²), square kilometer (km²), square centimeter (cm²), square millimeter (mm²) and hectare (ha). The relations among them are as follows:

1 m² = 10⁴ cm² = 10⁶ mm² = 10^-6 km²

1 ha = 10⁴ m² = 10^-2 km²

3. The Volume Unit

The volume unit includes cubic meter (m³), cubic kilometer (km³), cubic centimeter (cm³), cubic millimeter (mm³), liter (l) and milliliter (ml). The relations among them are as follows:

1 m³ = 10⁶ cm³ = 10⁹ mm³ = 10^-9 km³

1 l = 1000 ml = 10^-3 m³

4. The Mass Unit

The mass unit includes kilogram (kg), gram (g), milligram (mg), ton (t) and atomic mass unit (u). The relations among them are as follows:

1 kg = 10³ g = 10⁶ mg = 10^-3 t

1 u = 1.66054×10^-27 kg

5. The Force Unit

The force unit includes newton (N). Its definition is as follow:

1 N=1m·kg／S^-2;

6. The Speed Unit

The speed unit includes meters per second (m/s), kilometers per hour (km/h) and kn (nautical mile per hour). The relations among them are as follows:

1 km/h = 0.27 m/s

1 kn = 0.51444 m/s

7. The Frequency Unit

The frequency unit includes hertz (Hz). Its definition is as follow:

1 Hz = 1／s

8. The Energy Unit

The energy unit includes joule (J) Electron-volts (eV) 1000 watts hour (kW·h) and calorie (cal). The relations among them are as follows:

1 J = 1 N·m

1 eV = 1.602189×10^-19 J

1 kW·h = 3.6×106 J

1 J = 4.2 cal

9. The Power Unit

The power unit includes watt (W) and kilowatts (kW). The relations among them are as follows:

1 W = 1 J/s

1 kW = 1000 J/s

10. The Pressure Unit

The pressure unit includes pascal (Pa) and kilopascal (kPa). The relations among them are as follows:

1 Pa = 1 N／m²

1 kPa=1000 N／m²

11. The Angle Unit

The angle unit includes radian (rad), (°), (′), and (″). The relations among them are as follows:

1 rad = 180°／π

1°=（π∕180）rad = 60′= 3600″
