The paint, which may be Chinese ink or Chinese painting dyes – not oil paint – is applied with brushes, just as are oil paints and other paint mediums in Western art, although the paint medium will naturally have an influence on, if not completely determine, the type of brush stroke.
• Chinese Porcelain: Porcelain, they say, is China’s “gift” to the world. Hailed as one of the must-haves in many households, porcelain has found its way into many countries across the globe. • Chinese Embroidery: Suzhou or Su embroidery has a history of over 2000 years. It was produced on a large scale during the Song Dynasty. In the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty, Shen Shou, a master embroiderer, combined Japanese and Western fine arts with traditional Chinese embroidery skills to create a unique style. Su embroidery is very elegant, with simple designs highlighting a main theme. The stitching is smooth, dense, thin, neat, even, delicate and harmonious. The thin threads are divided into numerous strands that are barely visible to the naked eye. Double-sided embroidery has the same patterns on both sides and uses an embroidering method that shows no seams in the stitches. Su embroidery has become increasingly famous throughout the world.
• Chinese Kite: Chinese Kites were first invented by Chinese about 2,000 years ago. They are traditional Chinese gifts with Chinese characteristics. Tourists can manage to buy them in many cities and towns in China.
• Chinese Pottery: Porcelain is a significant invention from ancient China. People made primitive porcelain early in the Shang Dynasty, and real porcelain was first made in the Eastern Han Dynasty. Porcelain manufacturing in China gradually developed from the Wei, Jin and North and South Dynasties to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Ceramic is one of the three greatest specialties from the Western Han Dynasty that has become internationally known. The town of Jingdezhen in Jiangxi Province is China’s "Porcelain Capital" in China.
