Traditional Chinese festivals are colorful and rich in content. This is an important part of Chinese culture.

Traditional Festivals of China - most of the traditional festivals in China are based on the Chinese lunar calendar. 

There are also three key national holiday periods in China, when a large part of the population is on the move – all travel bookings are extremely tight at these times, Hotels generally increase their rates and Flights and trains can be very crowded. The main, week-long holidays are: Chinese New Year in February; International Labour Day-the first week of May, and  National Day-the first week in October.

Chinese Spring Festival: Spring Festival is the most important occasion for the Chinese people. No matter how far people stay away, they are eager to go home and stay together with their families on this special festival.

Lantern Festival: The night of 15th of January according to Chinese lunar calendar is the first full-moon night in the New Year. People treat it as a symbol of New Year and celebrate on that day. They appreciate the bright moon and the beautiful lanterns, burn fireworks, guess lantern riddles and eat yuanxiao (stuffed dumplings made of glutinous rice flour served in soup) together.

Dragon Boat Festival: Dragon Boat Festival or Duanwu Festival is a traditional festival and statutory holiday in China. The main celebrations of course include the dragon boat racing but eating Zongzi (A pyramid-shaped glutinous rice dumpling wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves) is also customary.

Mid-autumn Festival: August the 15th according to the lunar calendar is the traditional Mid-autumn Festival in China. On the night of Mid-autumn Festival, looking at the bright full-moon, people stay far away from home miss their families very much.

Water Splashing Festival: The Water-splashing Festival is the most important occasion in the area, which seems to inject a bit of life into the otherwise uneventful region. The whole community and tourists alike will be out in the streets joyfully joining in a battle of water splashing onto each other during that day. The city turns out to be a sea of billow and spray

Lusheng Festival of Miao Ethnic people: The Lusheng Festival is the most influential festival of the Miao community. It is popular throughout Guizhou, Yunnan, and Sichuan Provinces, the Lusheng Festival in Kaili, Guizhou being the most famous and grand of the bunch. It begins on the 16th of the first lunar month, and climaxes on the 19th and 20th.

New Year Festival of Dong Ethnic Group: The Dong New Year is a very important occasion for the Dong Ethnic people as the New Year Festival to the Han Chinese. Days before the New Year, Dong people make new clothes, clean their houses, make glutinous rice cakes, slaughter pigs, cattle for feasts..
