Land and Water Buddhist Ceremony
The full name is "the Sacred and Worldly Land and Water Universal Enlightenment and Fast Festival" as it releases all the ghosts of land and water from purgatory and relieves all the living creatures in six paths. It is also called "land and water Buddhist field", "land and water grand ceremony", "land and water ceremony" and "land and water fast". The duration ranges from seven days to forty nine days.
Zhongxing Buddhist Rite
It is difficult for ordinary Buddhist believers to afford to take part in a land and water Buddhist ceremony while the Zhongxing Buddhist Field, which is mainly to help the souls of the dead find their way back home, is easy to afford.
Blessing and Longevity Buddhist Rite
This Buddhist rite is held for the alive, using red papers (that held for leading the souls of the dead uses yellow papers).
Food-bestowing at the Flaming Mouth (Hungray Ghost)
It is also called Feeding the Flaming Mouth or Food Bestowing Ceremony, which is to offer sacrifice to the hungry ghost Wang Mianran. It is generally held at dusk on the day when the significant Buddhist ceremony is fullfilled or during the funeral.
Doctrine of Repentance
It is a Buddhist ceremony held for abandoning evil and doing good as well as advancing cultivation. Specifically speaking, it is to release the souls of the dead from purgatory, confess one's guilty or become attached to Buddhism and establish merits and virtues.
