Four methods of diagnosis include observation, auscultation and olfaction, interrogation, pulse feeling and palpation.

Observation: observe the expression, coating on the tongue, wastes, and excretions of the patients. By doing, doctors can get to know patients' condition.

Auscultation and olfaction: hear the voice and breath, the sound of coughing. By doing this, doctors can get to know patients' condition.

Interrogation: Ask about the condition of patients,such as the causes and changing condition of disease, the treating process and medical history. By doing, doctors can get to know patients' condition.

Pulse feeling and palpation: Doctors gets to know patients’ condition by pulse feeling.

These four methods of diagnosis are still used widely nowadays. It is an important argument and treatment in Chinese medical science.
