Introduction
The Denmark Pavilion displays a world of fairy tales with the highlight of the Little Mermaid, the country's symbol. According to the great wisdoms of architects, the pavilion is built like a fairy tale with three chapters, namely the Story of Danish Cities, the Story of the Danish people and the story of Danish technology and solutions for future urban living.
Denmark Pavilion is designed to visitors that happiness is not just originated from wealth. The true happiness should be built on the harmony between human and nature like that in the fairy tales.
Highlights
- Cycling
Children will be able to cycle throughout the cycling lanes just like the Danes do in their cities. Denmark is a country of bikes, and Copenhagen is famous for its free city bikes. The area for the children to cycle through is designed just like the streets in Copenhagen. Biking is a healthy lifestyle that promotes environmentally friendly concepts. So it is a good chance for the kids to learn about environmental protection. - Statue of the Little Mermaid
The statue of the Little Mermaid was built in 1913 on the edge of Copenhagen’s harbor to honor the world famous fairy tale character created by Hans Christian Anderson. Shanghai Expo 2010 is the first time for the statue to leave her hometown and make her debut China tour at a man-made lake in the pavilion resembling the sights of Copenhagen harbor where the statue resides. - Enjoy Danish Lifestyles
Parents are able to bring their kids have fun in an open square or take a picnic on the rooftop garden. Moreover, sitting besides the pool where statue of the Little Mermaid is located will also be a great fun, and kids are able to put their feet into the water, just like Danes do in the Copenhagen Harbor. The pavilion will also provide some famous Danish dishes and snacks, such as open-faced sandwiches, kids will surely love them.
