Shanghai Expo 2010 takes advantages of convenient and efficient public transportation. The two international airports in Shanghai: Hongqiao International Airport and Pudong International Airport have been expanded to provide more chances for flights from all over the world. There are expressways from Shanghai to nearby cities of Nanjing, Suzhou, and Hangzhou, which makes it more convenient for expo visitors to see more attractions in and around Shanghai. To get into the expo site, there are the following ways, among which subway is most the convenient one.

Get into the Expo Site by Subway
This is the most convenient way to get into the expo site.
Among the 12 subway lines in Shanghai, there are 6 subway lines can reach the Shanghai Expo site, namely subways: 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 13 (Expo special line). Subway line No.13 has stations at Madang Road, Lupu Bridge and Expo Boulevard. Visitors can take subway line No.13 at Madang Road for free with their expo tickets, yet safety inspection will be taken before boarding on the subway.
Most of the expo site entrances are built close to the subway exits, so that’s why taking subway is the most convenient way to the expo site. At the subway exits of Luban Road Station, Tang Bridge Station and Gaoke West Road Station, which are comparatively far from the expo site entrance, free shuttle buses are available for visitors.

Get into the Expo Site by Buses and Expo Taxies
A great many expo special expo bus lines and expo taxies are provided for visitors to get into the expo site. But we do not recommend the ways of getting into the expo site by buses or taxi, because the buses and taxies will be parked in the parking lots which are mostly concentrated on the expo site entrances of No.1, 4, 7 and 8. These expo site entrances are crowded and it takes a long time for visitors to walk from a parking lot to the expo site entrance.
Transportation inside the Expo Site
Expo Shuttle Buses
Expo shuttle buses can be found quite easily in the expo site, which run between different areas. In Puxi (West Huangpu River Area), there are cross-river shuttle buses running between Area D and E to Pudong (East Huangpu River Area). According to the map you got from expo volunteers when you entered the expo site or the road signs which can be found everywhere, you will be able to find the bus stops to take the shuttles buses. Only a few seconds or some minutes are required for waiting for a shuttle bus.
Sightseeing Battery Cars
You can take a battery car with the coast of only 10 yuan on the expo axis or the elevated walkways. The advantages of taking battery cars are: you can have a bird-eye’s view of the general outfits of many expo pavilions from a high place, and you can save the time and energy of walking for a long distance.
Cross-river Ferries
Visitors can take a ferry to cross Huangpu River for free from the six docks in the expo site (L1, L3 and L5 in Puxi, and L2, L4 and L6 in Pudong). These docks are scattered conveniently, and visitors are able to take a ferry whenever and wherever they want. The ferries run so frequently across the river that it takes only less than five minutes for a visitor to board on a ferry.
