Overview
Liangyuan Garden or Park is one of the four popular gardens from the Qing Dynasty in Guangdong along with Shunde’s Qinghui Garden, Dongguan’s Keyuan Garden and Fanyu’s Yuyinshan Villa.
Liangyuan Park received its name because it had once been a private garden for Liang Clan. Liangyuan Park is composed of various separate parts and has been built on a very large scale.

Introduction
The Liangyuan Park is one of the most popular places to visit today in Foshan and attracts a large number of visitors. It is famous as one of the four popular gardens from the Qing Dynasty in Guangdong along with Shunde’s Qinghui Garden, Dongguan’s Keyuan Garden and Fanyu’s Yuyinshan Villa. The park had been built during Emperor Daoguang and Emperor Jiaqing’s reign during the Qing Dynasty.
Background
The Liangyuan Garden had been built by Liang Airu, a senior scholar of the Grant Secretariat. He built the park very elaborately with the help of his nephews Liang Jiutu, Liang Jiuhua and Liang Jiuzhang. Liangyuan Park received its name because it had once been a private garden for Liang Clan. Liangyuan Park is composed of various separate parts and has been built on a very large scale. The main sectors in the park are: Hanxiang Inn, Fenjiang Thatched Cottage, Qunxing Thatched Hall and the Twelve Stone Rooms.
The Highlights
Among the four major Qing Dynasty gardens in Guangdong, the Liangyuan Park is the largest. It had been built during the Jiaqing Reign on a very ostentatious plan. Surrounded by a corridor and with gleaming buildings amidst the rich foliage of various trees, Liangyuan Park paints a very beautiful picture and is definitely one of the top highlights of the city. In this garden, there are more than 80 inscriptions of various calligraphic works by masters from various dynasties on display.
The Architecture
Liangyuan Park features local architecture and style. It had been constructed in various phases and the construction had lasted for around 40 years during the Daoguang and Jiaqing periods of the Qing Dynasty. The construction had been handled by four different personalities, all of whom were painters, calligraphers and poets. Liangyuan Park is a typical literati garden with all the features and elements of the Qing Dynasty gardens. It has seamless gardens, ancestral halls, mansions and very exquisite layout.

Liangyuan Park is a beautiful park with waterfronts marked with willows and pines, winding waterways, beautiful flowers and clusters of fruit trees. It is a unique location with a lot of charm. Liangyuan Park had been listed as the Key protection unit of cultural and historical relics of the province in 1990. In 1994, the park received restoration to preserve the original beauty of the park.
