Lishi Grand Ancestral Hall is surrounded by green mountains and forests with the Huangtan River passing by it in a winding manner, demonstrating fantastic scenery. The ancestral hall has a brick and wood architecture style characterized by three courtyards and four Corridors. There are three huge halls, 26 sitting rooms and 104 rooms, accounting an area of 5600㎡. On the door of the torii-style tower in the front carved two characteristics “ Favor Glory” and on each side of the door hung a couplet which reads “ The Mansion of Prime Minister and General; the Door of Loyal Chancellor and dutiful Son”. The folding screen in front of the main hall is written with The Autobiography of Mr. Lishi Huode by famous calligraphers of Ming dynasty. Lishi Grand Ancestral Hall was first built in the 16th ruling year of Emperor Daoguang, Qing dynasty in order to commemorate Li Huode, the ancestor of Hakkas who migrated to west Fujian Province. Since Li Huode moved to Fujian Province 800 years ago, his decedents have by now covered Fujian, Taiwan , Guangdong, Guilin , and Jiangxi Province as well as countries in south-east Asia. In recent years many people have come to seek their family root in the grand ancestral hall, which has been listed as a cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level.
