Nanping, as the biggest city in area, has an area of 26,300 square kilometers, accounting for one fifth of the whole land of Fujian Province. It governs one district, four cities and five counties, namely, Yanping District, Shaowu City, Jianyang City, Jian’ou City, Wuyishan City, Shunchang County, Pucheng County, Guangze County, Songxi County and Zhenghe County. The current registered population is 3,040,000.
Thanks to its profound cultural accumulations, Nanping is regarded as one of the main resources of the Fujian culture. Here people are of great talents and the land is fertile. Numerous elitists have emerged along the long river of history, among whom were more than 2,000 Jinshi (Jinshi is a successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations in ancient China) and 17 feudal Prime Ministers.
