Brief introduction
Site of Han City in Chengcun Village is situated one kilometer away from the south-western part of Chengcun village, Xingtian town, Wuyishan city. It is the age-oldest, scale-largest and most complete-preserved old site of city among those that have been discovered in South China up to now. The site falls into National key preservation of relics.
The site is located on up-and-down hills and stretched as a rectangle with its length 860 meters from south to north and its width 550 meters from east to west. The land area of the site is 480,000 square meters. The old city faces to the south and is surrounded by water and hills on other three sides, which contribute to its beautiful scenery. There is also a moat goes around the outside city. It was discovered that several other sites distributing in the city, including palaces, towers, barracks and houses, places smelting iron and making pottery, and tombs and graves. In addition, more than 40,000 articles of cultural relics, such as bronze ware, iron ware and earthenware, were dug out, all of which are of great archaeological value.
