Hongshan Temple

Brief Introduction:

Hongshan Temple was originally built in the Northern Wei Dynasty, rebuilt in the Song Dynasty. It once was a sacred place, many scholars and prominent figures in praise of the place have left their poems. Because of battles and earthquakes, Hongshan Temple have been destroyed s and renovated many time and during the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution it was ruined.

Hongshan Temple has resumed Buddhist ceremony since 1981 and the main hall was also rebuilt. Jieyun Temple Taoist Administrative Committee was founded and restored religious activities in 1992, besides Wanji Palace, Welcoming Immortals Bridge, Tianping Platform, Taishang Palace and Yuxu Palace were laid out on the site of earlier Hongshan Temple. Hongshan Temple is a place with glorious revolutionary culture.

The Red Army converged in Dalachi on October, 1936 and the troops were stationed here and the main hall of Hongshan Temple was the headquarters for Pengdehuai. The Red Army was stationed there for 48 days and sowed the seed of revolution, left a splendid page in history of Chinese revolution. Pingchuan District government built a Long March memorial pavilion in order to remember this period of history in 1986, in which there is a monument recording the feat of the Long March.
