It is the rootstock of a plant grown up in the mountain areas. It tastes sweet and the color is yellow. Legend has it that when Suiyang Emperor arrived at Lixuan Village on his way of tour inspection in the west, the local people offered it to the emperor and Yang Emperor appraised high of it after tasting and then the local people called it Royal Gen-seng and the name remained till today. It can be eaten both cooked and uncooked.
