Longnan Overview

Longnan city is situated in the southeast of Gansu Province. Mountains, valleys, hills, basins can all be seen in this area of Longnan. Climate here is vertically distributed and the differences of climate in different places are also very distinctive. The natural sceneries here are of the grace of South China and the magnificence of North China. Long long ago, in the remote ancient times of New Stone Age, people had lived in Longnan. For example, the remote Chinese humane ancestor Fuxi was born in the Qiuchi Mountain of Xihe County, Longnan.

Tourist resources of Longnan are quite rich. Wuhou Temple in Qishan, the relics of ancient country Qiuchi (an ancient country in China ), Moya Tablet of Ode to Xixia, scenery of Jifeng Mountain, Celestial Cavern of Zhang Guolao, magic sceneries of Wan Xian g Cavern, Dufu Thatched Cottage, scenic spots of Santan, Tianchi Lake of Yangtang, Ancient Road of Yinping, Long March Memorial Hall of Red Army in Hadapu and so on . These scenic spots are just like diamonds shinning in Longnan area. The Qishan Castle in Lixian County is situated in Qishan Town which is 23 kilometers far from the east of Lixian County of Longnan. It is about 70 kilometers from Qishan Castle to Tianshui city. In Chinese History , this castle was the army camp of Zhugeliang’s. He was the Prime Minister of Shu Dynasty of the Period of Three Kingdoms. The name of Qishan Castle was also given by people when Zhugeliang attacked the Wei Dynasty of the Period of Three Kingdoms. Moya Tablet of Ode to Xixia, which is situated 23 kilometers from west of Chengxian County is also called as Yellow Dragon Tablet. This is one of the most famous three odes in Han Dynasty. The characters of Moya Tablet of Ode to Xixia are all authentic works of Lishu style in Han Dynasty (an ancient style of calligraphy current in the Han Dynasty). This Moya Tablet of Ode to Xixia is  the real treasure of Moya Tablets and deserves great fame in the home circle of calligraphy and history. Wanxiang Cavern, which was called Celestial Cavern or Five Celestials Cavern in the past days, was renamed as Wanxiang Cavern because there are many smaller caves hidden in and countless stalactites in it Because of these sceneries, Wanxiang Cavern is just like a paradise in the world of mortals. Wanxiang Cavern was formed before ten million years to three hundred million years ago. It is typically karst terrain featured. It is too deep to fathomable, and this cavern has become the biggest developed natural art gallery underground.
