Dongguan villages remain many preserved architectures of Ming and Qing Dynasty. However, the most well-preserved ancient architectures are in Chashan Nanshe Village. Here there are over 100 residences and 25 temples, especially retain famous heritage buildings like the Zizheng Di, Baisui Fang and Xie temples. It is on the process of applying for Chinese Historical and Cultural Village.
The ancient architecture of Nanshe Village is a showcase of Pearl River Delta Water Villages. The center of the village is a pond and alongside the pond are temples. Under large and old trees are lanes and residences. The village retains a large number of fine stone, brick, wood, plaster and ceramics and other ancient architectural elements with high historical, art and science value. The surrounding farm lands are also well-preserved, maintaining a fresh pastoral style. In short, Nanshe Village is an extraordinary relic tourist attraction and leisure resort.
